SD - Scuba Diver (PADI) Diving course

3 days, including 2 dives from the boat, theory, theoretical examination and diving equipment including scuba tanks and lead.

The PADI Scuba Diver is a pre-beginner dive brevet that is perfect for holidaymakers or for people who want to do only a few dives a year. As a subprogram of the PADI Open Water Diver program, the PADI Scuba Diver level allows you to become a certified diver quickly and easily, with the least possible time commitment. With the PADI Scuba Diver certification you are allowed to dive under direct supervision by a PADI Divemaster, Assistant Instructor or a dive professional with even a higher education.

Note: In addition to the course fees, the certification fee of EUR 40.00 and the OWD Manual of EUR 40.00 has to be paid on-site in the event of successful completion. In addition to the above mentioned prices, a permit fee of EUR 7.00 per day is payable on-site.

Please add the item „hotel pick up“ (by our free shuttle bus) to the dive package or diving course booking. For our divers, who do not stay in the Giftun Hotel, we offer a free pick up service from the booked hotel / private accommodation. However, this service does not apply to hotels /private accommodations in Makadi Bay, Sahl Hasheesh and El Gouna, but includes all hotels / private accommodations in the area of ​​Hurghada City. Depending on the location of the hotel / private accommodation, we plan the daily pick-ups of your diving holiday individually here on site. A corresponding list is available every day in our office.

The return to the surrounding hotels start at the base from 5 pm and are offered every half an hour. The last return trip takes place at the closure of the diving center, so depending on the season between 6 and 8 pm.

For participants in special tours (for example, earlier departure for wreck diving or later departure for night diving) we offer a timed pick up and return to the hotels.

The first pick-up for diving takes place in the morning of the first day of diving (usually beginner trip). If you have booked a diving course, you will be asked to pick you up for the afternoon of the day after your arrival, so that the details of the course can be discussed at the diving school. Here, the course documents and the diving equipment can be issued before the course starts.

Question: Do you offer diving courses all year round?

Answer: Yes, we are open all year and usually we start our diving courses on Tuesday/Wednesday and Saturday. 

Question: Is there a min. or max. number of students that the course takes place?

Answer: We start every beginner course. Rarely it happens that we postpone the course for one day. Sometimes the course is combined with our partner diving center (Blue Water Dive Resort). Further details will be discussed with you on-site.

Question: Do I need certain requirements for the diving course?

Answer: You have to be healthy and physically fit. Snorkeling would be an advantage, but its not a must. 

Question: What do I have to bring with me for the diving course?

Answer: Towel, swimwear, sun protection and a good mood. :) If you own a mask, a snorkel or fins, you are welcome to use it during the diving course. 

Question: Is a medical certificate compulsory for the diving course? Which certificate type is recommended?

Answer: If there are no health restrictions and you are younger than 55 years, it is sufficient, if you fill in and sign our health form on-site. However, we strongly recommend a visit to the Diving Physician to make sure that you are „Fit for Diving“.

Question: I booked at short notice and can not organize a diving medical examination at home anymore. What can I do?

Answer: No problem at all. It can be done on-site at short notice at the deco chamber doctors in Hurghada (for a fee of currently 50 Euros).

Question: Can my partner accompany me during the SD course?

Answer: Unfortunately not, because the instructor focus only on his/her students. But your partner is welcome on the boat as a non-diver or snorkeler. 

Question: Is it advisable to buy and bring diving equipment from abroad?

Answer: No, because in our diving courses the rental equipment is included. The advantage is, that you can familiarize yourself with the somehow unfamiliar diving equipment and step by step get used to your new hobby „Scuba Diving“. But sure you are welcome to use your own diving equipment. 

Question: Do the instructors speak English?

Answer: Yes all our instructors speak English.

Question: What is the difference between a PADI Scuba Diver and a PADI Open Water Diver course?

Answer: The Scuba Diver is a part of the Open Water Diver Course and entitles you to limited diving after completition. The diving depth is limited to max. 12 meters and you always need a dive professional at your side. This might cause additional costs. The OWD course is a completely completed diving license. 

Question: What is the difference between a 4-day and a 5-day Open Water Diver course?

Answer: The 4-day diving course includes 4 open water dives and the 5-day diving course has a total of 6 open water dives. Dive number 5 and 6 are mostly „fun dives“ and are often used to gain a bit more experience. 

Question: Is there an age limit for diving education?

Answer: Yes, PADI offers diving education from the age of 10 years (Junior Diver). Upwards there are no limits, if you are still fit. But in older ages a medical certificate is necessary. 

Question: Do I have to take out diving insurance in advance?

Answer: Yes we do recommend it. On-site we offer a limited first aid for currently 6 Euro, which covers up to 3 deco chamber trips during your holiday.

Question: Is diving education different for children and adults?

Answer: Yes and no. The education itself does not differ, but it is usually more complex for children. And children have different depth limits than adults.
